Andy Fitzgerald's work sits at the intersection of critical cultural studies, media theory, user studies, digital political economy, and ethics. Across this work, he explores how mobile and computational media become woven into the everyday practices through which people make sense of themselves, others, and political life.

 

His book project, Mediatizing Terrorism, examines how platform media reshaped responses to Salafi-jihadist violence and contributed to the resurgence of far-right authoritarianism. Through the Mediatization Lab, he develops reflexive, participatory methods for studying how people live with, negotiate, and make sense of computational media in everyday life.
